The Undercurrent - NL Bouldering Provincials

The UNDERCURRENT 2026 is Newfoundland and Labrador's Bouldering Provincials.

This competition is focused on FUN and COMMUNITY, while also being the BIGGEST and most EPIC event of the year at The Cove.

The competition is broken into TWO ROUNDS.

ROUND 1: The Scramble

• We reset the climbing gym with 30 new climbs. With climbs ranging in difficulty from easy to hard, climbers of all skill levels can play!
• You get 1.5 hours to climb the new boulders and score as high as you can!
• Climbs all increase in point value as they get harder.
• Climbs score higher if completed in fewer attempts.
• Your top 6 scoring climbs make up your final score in the SCRAMBLE ROUND.

Round 2: Finals

• Top scoring climbers from THE SCRAMBLE qualify for finals, a second round taking place at ~5:00pm the same day
• Closely following the World Climbing / CEC / Olympic format, finalists will climb 4 boulders with a time-limit, seeing who can get the most progression in the fewest attempts across all 4 boulders.

The top scoring competitors for each division will enter the mix to qualify for regional/national level events, and podium athletes will have their names permanently displayed on the 2026 Undercurrent CHAMPIONS BANNER.
